Without sweat!
Experts say that exercising in your period is absolutely good and even beneficial, because hitting the gym can reduce menstrual pain, increase mood and facilitate swelling.
If you are planning to adopt outdoor training this summer, you may want to take more care by choosing female products that offer protection while helping to manage sweat, smell and gossip.
Along It is generally safe to exercise while wearing a buffer, the founder and CEO of the non -toxic and sustainable period care brand for your V warns of a possible hygiene problem with sweaty and impact activities.
“The sweat tends to accumulate -around the vagina and the underwear, creating a damp environment, causing the buffer rope wet,” Katie Diasti said to The Post. “A wet rope can lead to an increase in bacterial growth and a higher risk of UTI and yeast infections.”
The tablets, menstrual cups, discs or underwear of the athletic period can be better options.
For their part, tampons have recently undergone fires due to concerns about their safety and possible health risks.
A shocking study of 2024 found lead, arsenic and other toxic heavy metals in various brands of tampons, causing research on food and drug administration.
The initial review of the agency’s literature did not identify security problems with the use of tampons and pollutant exposure.
The FDA also performs laboratory tests to determine if metals are released from buffer materials to the body.
Dr. Alessandra Hirsch, OB/GYN at the Irving Medical Center of the University of Newyork-Presbyterian/Columbia, said that the 2024 study did not explore if the metals were absorbed through vaginal coating.
“A substance is only” toxic “if it reaches vital organs in a high enough amount to cause damage, which this article did not investigate,” Hirsch said in The Post.
“The American College of Medical Toxicology published a statement last year in response to this work to reassure menstrual individuals who have no evidence that tampons cause metal poisoning.”
As the investigation continues, the FDA “continues to recommend tampons nailed by the FDA as a safe option” for menstrual use.
“Much more study and research is required and there are no recommendations for no tampons,” said Dr. Mitchell Kramer, director of Obstetric and Gynecological Strategy and Clinical Integration of the Northwell’s Huntington Hospital, in The Post.
“There are certain ways to minimize the risk,” he added. “Use 100% organic cotton tampons that do not contain dyes or fragrances, avoid synthetic fiber tampons, change buffers frequently (this also minimizes the risk of toxic shock syndrome) and use tampons for the minimum amount of comfortable time during the period.”
Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is a rare disease but potentially that can jeopardize life caused by bacterial toxins.
A buffer that is too long can turn into a bacterial breeding ground that cause tss, bacterial vaginosis, and vaginal yeast infections.
The FDA recommends changing tampons every four to eight hours to maintain good hygiene and reduce the risk of bacterial growth and TSS.
That is why tampons may not be the best option while sleeping, walking and playing outside for a long time, said Diasti.
“These situations can make it difficult to change the buffer in time,” he added. “Master and menstrual disks are great alternatives: they offer longer wear time and a greater comfort for prolonged periods without access to a toilet.”
The menstrual disks are designed to sit in the space behind the cervix, while the menstrual cups are usually positioned just below the cervix.
The cup must adapt -well. Diasti said that a wrong cup of adaptation can filter or change during physical activity, especially for those with a high or low cervix.
Hirsch warns that an improperly cleaned menstrual cup can increase the risk of fungal infections, while the pads or underwear of the period can cause local allergic reactions such as eruptions and itching.
“All this means that unfortunately manufactured products have some unknown risk, which we think are quite small,” Hirsch said. “For now, the best way to decide on a vintage product is to choose the best adjustment for your lifestyle.”
If none of these options work for you, there is always free bleeding.
